Java user group seems to be more and more open to “outside java technologies”. It was a pleasure to listen about stuff like cassandra or HTML at the JUG summer camp at La Rochelle.
Now frédéric camblor made a prez last week on pure frontend technology. A 2 and half hour live coding on:
- yeoman
- Backbone.JS
- sass / compass
- Require.js
For me it was perfectly just in time. I’ve learned a lot more on backbone.js (and really need it).
I discover yeoman from google. It give you a set of tool to make front end dev:
- compile coffeescript
- compile sass compass
- fetch js lib dependencies
- generate code (controller etc..) for backbone and more
- update your browser as soon as you save your stylesheet or brother
- and more..
This tool is just amazing and perfect for my new dataviz project for example.
Browser take more and more responsabilities in our architecture. It become a coder / architect subject and there a lot of amazing stuff to do now with coffee, HTML5, svg, apis….
Be sur to check yeoman if you want to make serious (and fun) front development !
